6th Anniversary Trip - Fall Creek Falls 5-30 to 6-2-08

We enjoyed our stay at the Fall Creek Falls Inn. It was really moist in the room at first, since it was made out of concrete, but with lots of air conditioning our stay was comfortable. We swam at the olympic size pool, which is located in "the Village" where there are tennis courts, baseball fields and more. The small shops and facilities there were also neat. We were rained out one day, but we really enjoyed just lounging around the room, and when we started getting bored we drove out to Cookeville and ate at a Japanese resturaunt and saw Indiana Jones. The scenic drive, which takes you by Piney Falls and a bunch of overlooks, was really beautiful and relaxing. We also took the 3 mile paved bike trail to the falls that was really cool but there were some areas where the water did not drain well and we got muddy butts. There's also trails from the FCF overlook that takes you to a couple of other overlooks and rocky outcroppings. We had a really great time just hanging out together, and I must admit that it was nice not having Finny with us.

Special thanks go to Katie and Jason Keenan who watched our puppy while we were gone and took really good care of him. Thanks guys!

From the Humane Association of Wilson County, at one year of age, April 25 2008. Adoption fee was $75 and one trip to petsmart for basic needs (kennel, grooming equip., food, toys etc...) was $150. On Saturday, April 26th, I took him to the vet (because of constant whining) and turns out he had Giardia, kennel cough and an ear infection. Medication for all that, the exam, and Heartguard and Frontline for 6 months was $310! So, as you can imagine, Pat, who didn't really want a dog in the first place, was not very happy with me :( But, we've moved passed that and now he secretly loves the dog...he just shows it in a different way.

Anyway, his name at the humane association was Mulder and was changed to Finnegan two weeks later, which is an Irish name meaning: "fair", "light skinned", or "little white haired one"...even though border collies originated along the border between England and Scotland and he's not completely white...he also has large and small black spots.

Our biggest issues with him so far are whining and mouthing. Both getting better but not as good as I'd like. We start obedience class May 28th so maybe they can help me.

We Want a Wii Please

Yay! We got a Wii this year (March 2008), and are enjoying it immensely.

Some of our favorite games are Trauma Center-New Blood (great for two people or by yourself), WarioWare-Smooth moves (great when playing with a group even though it is a one player game), Wii Play (mini games are cute and easy to get started), and No More Heroes (If you're a guy there's plenty of slashing, blood and oppotunities to make money in interesting ways).

Mario Party is the most fun when 3+ players are present. Two players against two computer characters is kinda boring. Also, you don't get to choose which mini games you want to play, the game chooses them at random for you. At least to our understanding...

Wii Carnival is okay too, but some of the games are very tedious and therefore boring. Even after trying a game a dozen times I did not find it easy to improve my skills. So if you suck at something your motivation to excel will decrease and you'll likely never play it again. There are some mini games that I would play again that are more straight forward, mainly all the shooting type games.

Here's an embarassing video of Pat doing kareoke to the game Boogie. This video may not be available in the future because when he finds it on here he'll most likely delete it. So, take a good look and make sure you call him and make fun of him. Of coarse most of you know you'll have to leave a voicemail and wait a month before he'll ever recieve your call.

Pat's Worm Farm

Putting the worms in the wormtopia, made by the Sunleafs co. The species of worms I used is Lumbricus rubellus (red wriggler). The book I red that got me started on this is, "Worms Eat My Garbage". There are 2000 worms in one lb. Most people know Charles Darwin for his association with evolutionary philosophy, but what most people don't realize is that his last work contributed the bulk of what we know about worms. The reason that I got into this is because the Lord revealed to me that he setup setup systems in nature to balance resources. The shortages that we experience are the result of not managing resorces effectively. Our failure in the dominion of this world is the result of not recognizing the systems that are already in set in place and working within them. Everything exists in this world to make it an Edin. There is no fixed pie. Our problem isn't that there is a lack of resouces, it's that there is a lack of intelligence. Meaning we need to be understand these systems fully, we don't know how to manipulate them, and we don't know how to create them. I have always thought that the next natural step for technology will be organic. Mechanical--->Electronic--->Organic. To do this we need to not only have a thorough understanding of biology and chemistry, but we need to be seeking applications.

Below is a picture and very short video of what it looks like between the layers of the farm. The feeding area is located up at the top and they breed in the bottom rack. There's a grate that holds each layer of dirt in place and the worms are able to travel up and down through those grates to get to the layer they want to be in.
